Small Schools Athletics Carnival

Yesterday our school, Hernani, went to the carnival in Urunga. It was a beautiful, sunny day.
First, the little kids did long jump. Drew came third. Then, we had our age races. Drew came
first, Josh came third and Imogen came second. Next we did novelty races which were lots of fun. The carnival was a really fun day.

Environtmental Day @ Nymboida by Pania & Chloe

On Monday 1st of June, we all went to Dundurrabin to get the Bus to take us to Nymboida for Environmental Science day. We saw the Taronga Zoo mobile. We saw three types of lizards, a diamond python, an echidna, a red eyed green tree frog and a leaf insect.

There was a treasure hunt for native trees and a Bug watch were we looked for insects.

We also went to the Coach Museum at Nymboida.

We have been practising our skipping since last term. Everybody is getting better at skipping. First we do stretches, then we practise our skipping. We learned cross-over, egg beater and side swing. It's very fun.

Easter 2009

On the last day of Term 1, we had an easter hat parade. We made our easter hats out of cardboard and crepe paper. Most of our parents came and we had a barbeque and we ate steak sandwiches and sausages on damper buns. The parents and students played T-ball and Harry's team won. We were given clues for a chocolate easter egg hunt.

Zucchini Quiche by Brooke & Chloe

We are growing lots of food in our school vegetable garden. Last week we picked some tomatoes, beans, zucchini, squash, basil and corn. We washed them with water and then we made zucchini quiche, it was really nice. We had chocolate mousse for dessert

At The Swimming Carnival.By Pania

On Friday the 27th Febuary our school went to Dorrigo swimming pool for a carnival.

It was so much fun because we had a belly flop competition and I won then we had lots of races

at the start. At lunch I had a yummy burger. It was so huge that I couldn't fit it in my mouth .

Finally we went in the pool for some more races. When all the races were done we hoped out of the pool and then we got some cards got dressed and went home .

Water Audit

Today we did water research with Bruce and Mr Foley from the Clarence Valley Council. We learnt not to have long showers. We learnt how to save water. We did a water audit of our school, we watched a slideshow about where our water comes from.
